Reimagining MRI Education
Christos Xanthis completed his undergraduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace and earned a Master’s degree in Engineering and Physical Sciences in Medicine from Imperial College London. He holds a PhD from the University of Thessaly (2014), focusing on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) simulation, and a second MSc in Health Management from the University of Piraeus (2015). In 2015, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at Lund University in Sweden, within the Department of Clinical Sciences at Lund University Hospital.
His research has centered on pioneering the use of MRI simulations in research, education, and diagnostics. He spearheaded the development of an on-demand, high-performance MRI simulation engine leveraging cloud and GPU computing, aimed at broadening access to MRI research, enhancing training for clinicians and technologists, and improving diagnostic outcomes and patient care.
In 2017, he co-founded Corsmed, a Swedish spin-off startup recognized among the 33 most innovative early-stage companies in the country. Currently, Christos Xanthis and the Corsmed team are advancing software-based solutions to transform MRI across multiple domains. Their mission is to deliver faster, more affordable, and accessible MRI, supporting preventive health globally through hardware-independent technologies.
