Harvesting Tomorrow

George Varvarelis is the Founder and CEO of Augmenta, a deep-tech company specializing in smart agriculture and serving farmers and agricultural service providers and a member of the Scale Up 7th Batch. At Augmenta, his role included leading a team of 60 across the European Union and United States to develop their technological solution for the global agricultural sector. Alongside his Co-founder Dimitri Evangelopoulos, George developed Augmenta and helped lead to its $110 million acquisition from CNH Industrial. Following this acquisition, George took on the role of Engineering Head of CNH’s Global Sense and Act Division where he now oversees a multi-regional engineering team.

George’s academic background prepared him for his successful career. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Embedded Systems, and a Doctor of Philosophy, all from the University of Thessaly. This solid education, combined with his early experience working on his uncle’s family corn farm, deepened his understanding of farming's complexities and fueled his passion for agri-tech innovation. His technical expertise was further enhanced by roles as a Product Engineer at DigiPulse Internet Services and as an Electrical Engineer at Metka S.A., where he refined his engineering skills.
