Panos D. Kouris is the Co-founder and CEO of Vertoro, a company advancing sustainable bio-based solutions as alternatives to fossil fuels. He oversees Vertoro's global R&D organization and leads the scaling-up of its technology portfolio through a stage-gate process. Panos is also responsible for process design, techno-economic assessments, IP management, and supports life cycle assessments alongside Vertoro’s CSO to drive the green transition and reduce fossil fuel dependency.

Throughout his career, Panos has built upon his academic foundation, including research roles at Eindhoven University of Technology and Chemelot InSciTe, to develop scalable, real-world solutions in the energy sector. Panos brings deep expertise in lignocellulosic biomass conversion, a field in which he has led numerous research initiatives.

Panos Kouris completed a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology He also earned an MSc in Chemical and Process Engineering from the same institution. Prior to that, he obtained a combined BSc & MSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras in 2012.
