Gregory is a specialist in endovascular therapies and interventional radiology (IR) based in London, UK. He is a director and global clinical lead in the vascular and thrombosis therapeutic division of Bayer Pharmaceuticals and an honorary consultant at Guys’ and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London. He graduated from the medical school of Athens with a distinction and then pursued a Ph.D. in vascular surgery at Imperial College of London, UK. This was followed by an Academic Clinical Fellowship in clinical imaging at Cambridge University and a fellowship in endovascular surgery and interventional radiology at Oxford University Hospitals, UK. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Radiology since 2018. Dr Makris is passionate about research and he is the main author of many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, past-member of the CVIR endovascular journal editorial board as well as peer reviewer for a number of international journals. He is also the past-chairman of the European forum for interventional radiology trainees (ETF) under the auspices of CIRSE and past chair of the BSIR trainee committee (2018-2019) with significant work on understanding and improving IR trainings standards in Europe at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. His main interests include vascular and women’s health, MedTech innovation, IR education, and raising awareness around the role of IR in global health.
