Driving Sustainability Through Biotech

Georgios Savoglidis is the Founder and CEO of Embion Technologies, a biotech spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and a member of the Scale Up 5th Batch. With over 15 years of experience in biotech and chemical engineering, he focuses on developing bio-renewable solutions to convert agricultural and food processing by-products into high-value products. Georgios co-founded Embion in 2016, combining his expertise in sustainability and technology.

Before founding Embion, Georgios accumulated more than a decade of business experience within his family’s SME, where he played key roles in operations, health and safety, and customer relations at ASO Printing. His hands-on experience in the private sector solidified his understanding of business dynamics, which he later combined with his academic and technical expertise.

Georgios’s solid academic background includes a PhD, MSc, and Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras, where he focused on sustainable and innovative engineering solutions. He further honed his research skills with a postdoctoral fellowship in Systems Biology at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he deepened his understanding of biological systems. This blend of academic rigor and entrepreneurial experience uniquely positions Georgios to lead Embion’s work in the biotech field.
