Emilia Molimpakis started her career in research and academia with extensive emphasis on language and neurolinguistics. Through her multi-year research, Emilia built strong foundations for what later became Thymia. Emilia earned her PhD & post-doc in Cognitive Neuroscience and Linguistics from University College London, a highly celebrate academic institution, ranked as second in the world for Neuroscience. For over a decade, Emilia has worked with a highly diverse set of populations and patients affected by cognitive disorders spanning across Alzheimer's, Depression, and others, while utilizing language as a cognition marker. Emilia soon realized that language can be used as an assessment & treatment monitoring tool. Coupled with her experience in the gaming industry, where she created language-based predictive and adaptive models to aid in scientifically valid video-game design, the academic-turned-entrepreneur went on to co-found Thymia, alongside Stefano Goria, the company’s CTO, in 2020 through the Entrepreneur First program in London.
Thymia uses video games based on Neuropsychology, alongside analyses of video and speech to quickly, accurately & objectively assess mental health issues, starting with depression. Emilia is currently the CEO of Thymia, scaling the company’s mission and vision globally, making objective assessment and tracking of mental health more objective and accessible than ever.
