Onassis Foundation is a global nonprofit based in Athens, established in 1975 in accordance with the will of Aristotle Onassis to honor the memory of his son, Alexander Onassis. Guided by the belief that education, culture, and health are fundamental to a thriving society, the Foundation designs and supports initiatives that empower individuals, foster creativity, and drive social progress.
Acting as a catalyst for ideas, the Foundation shapes public discourse through bold dialogue, artistic innovation, and transformative learning. Its ecosystem includes the Onassis Stegi, a hub for contemporary art, performance, and intellectual exchange, as well as the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, one of the country’s most significant philanthropic contributions to public health.
Over the years, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships, supported pioneering artistic projects, and built platforms that connect Greece with the global creative and academic community. Today, it continues to champion progress, collaboration, and impact—investing in people and ideas that redefine what is possible.
