BIO

Tom Vellios is the co-founder and Chairman of Five Below, one of the fastest-growing retailers in the United States. He served as President and CEO until 2015 and as Executive Chairman through 2018, leading the company’s expansion to more than 1,500 stores nationwide and scaling it into a multi-billion-dollar public company with a market capitalization exceeding $9 billion.

With over two decades of experience across departments, specialties, and discount retail, he has built his career on identifying market gaps and creating distinctive, high-growth consumer brands. At Five Below, he pioneered a unique retail concept centered on trend-driven, high-quality products priced at $5 and below, delivering a compelling value proposition for younger audiences through an engaging and experiential store environment.

Beyond his executive role, he remains an active investor, partner, and mentor, supporting businesses with disruptive ideas and strong growth potential. He is particularly committed to empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and expanding access to education and opportunity.

Tom Vellios was born in Diplatanos, Greece, and is fluent in both English and Greek.
