Spyros Theodoropoulos

BIO

Spyros Theodoropoulos is the founder of CHIPITA S.A. and served as its CEO from 1989 to 2021, building it into one of the world’s leading players in the bakery snacks sector. Under his leadership, CHIPITA expanded internationally, establishing production facilities across Europe, the U.S., and emerging markets, and exporting to dozens of countries.

He began his career in 1976 in the family business Recor S.A., before holding senior leadership roles at Aligel S.A. and Interia. In 1989, he took full control of CHIPITA, leading its rapid growth, including its listing on the Athens Stock Exchange in 1994 and its global expansion over the following decades. In 2006, CHIPITA merged with Delta to form Vivartia S.A., which was later acquired by Marfin Investment Group. He subsequently reacquired CHIPITA in 2010, before leading its landmark sale to Mondelez International in 2021.

Beyond CHIPITA, he has invested in and acquired companies such as Nikas, a leading cured meat producer in Greece. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), and has previously held key institutional roles, including President of the Athens Stock Exchange Listed Companies Association, Vice President of the Greek Federation of Industries, Vice President of Hellenic Exchanges (HELEX), and Board Member of the National Bank of Greece.

He is a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business.
